Russian antitrust opens case vs ministry for LTE resource barriers
MOSCOW, Apr 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has opened a case against the Communications and Mass Media Ministry for impeding the allocation of frequencies for LTE networks, the antitrust authority said Wednesday in a statement.
The service revealed signs of violations of the competition law, as the ministry had hampered a decision on the introduction of technological neutrality for a 2,300–2,400 megahertz (MHz) band for fixed line operators.
The antimonopoly service received a claim from Internet provider NLine on unreasonable actions of the ministry regarding the frequency resource. The ministry’s State Radio Frequency Commission raised the issue of introduction of technological neutrality on the band several times in 2012–2015.
The antitrust commission will study the issue on April 21.
